Campaign’s first major policy rollout targets DC corruption with term limits, stock trading ban, and campaign finance reforms

ANCHORAGE – As self-dealing politicians continue to sell out Alaska to their special interest donors, Mary Peltola today announced a sweeping anti-corruption, Alaska-first policy agenda to fix the rigged system in DC and deliver real results for Alaskans.

“The only way to drive down costs and put Alaska first is to take on the rigged system that’s letting corrupt politicians feather their own nests, ” said Mary Peltola. “As an independent voice for Alaska, I’ll stand up to anyone to clean up the corruption in Congress – because our representatives should be answering to the people, not lining their own pockets or doing the bidding of special interests. I’ve seen firsthand just how broken DC is, but with the help of Alaskans, we’re going to fix it this November.”

“Fixing the Rigged System” is the campaign’s first major policy rollout and is built on direct feedback from Alaskans and what Mary’s seen firsthand during her time in Congress: DC is broken, and Alaskans are paying the price.

The plan includes specific steps to shut down congressional self-enrichment, ensure politicians answer to Alaska, root out DC waste, fraud, and abuse, and increase ethical standards in Congress. Key points include:

  • Institute Term Limits: Implement 12-year congressional term limits to replace career politicians with true public servants.
  • Ban Stock Trading: Prohibit members of Congress and their immediate family members from owning or trading individual stocks, closing the door on self-dealing at Alaskans’ expense.
  • Pass the DISCLOSE Act: Raise campaign finance transparency standards, requiring organizations to disclose donations over $10,000, so Alaskans know exactly who is funding campaign ads and why.
  • Overturn Citizens United: Amend the Constitution to reverse the Citizens United decision that allows millions of dark money dollars to flood Alaska’s airwaves every election cycle, because no Lower 48 special interest group should be telling Alaskans how to vote.

For too long, career politicians have offered cheap talk but no solutions while protecting the system that grew their own fortunes. Mary Peltola is running on a different promise: real accountability, real change, and leaders who answer to Alaskans, not special interest donors.
