Campaign recruited 500 volunteers and saw a flood of small dollar donations from across Alaska.
ANCHORAGE, AK – In just the first 24 hours after launch, Mary Peltola’s campaign for the U.S. Senate raised $1.5 million – more than Dan Sullivan raised into his campaign in the entire third quarter fundraising period of 2025.
Mary saw an outpouring of grassroots support with more than 500 people volunteering to help the campaign and a flood of small-dollar donations from Alaska teachers, doctors, nurses, fishermen, pilots, members of the military, fire fighters, air traffic controllers, dock wallopers, fishing lodge owners, seismologists, silversmiths, train conductors, wildlife biologists, and more. Grassroots donations powered Mary’s campaign, and 96% of contributions were $100 or less.
“In just 24 hours, Alaskans made it clear that we’re ready to put Alaska first. I’m grateful and honored for this incredible support from people who are ready to take on the special interests and DC people and focus on what matters: fish, family, and freedom. I’m running for U.S. Senate because Washington has rigged the system for itself while Alaska pays the price. Together, we can fix it, protect our fisheries, lower costs, and take care of each other like Alaskans always do,” said Mary Peltola.
On her first day in the race, coverage emphasized Peltola’s agenda of “Fish, Family, and Freedom,” her vow to shake up the establishment to make life more affordable for Alaskans, and the fact she will “continue striking out from the Democratic establishment.”
In addition, independent race raters at the Cook Political Report and Inside Elections shifted the race in Mary’s direction. Cook Political Report cited her “her unique political stature in Alaska and her proven crossover appeal,” and Inside Elections highlighted that “Peltola overperformed in her 2024 re-election loss and the national political environment could help push her over the top.”
