In response to President Trump announcing a $54 billion investment from the South Korean strategic investment fund in the Alaska LNG pipeline, lifelong Alaskan and Alaska LNG Pipeline champion Mary Peltola issued the following statement:
“I am so proud of the bipartisan work that I’ve done from the Alaska State Legislature to the United States House of Representatives to bring an LNG pipeline from the North Slope closer to reality, and I will continue to champion the Alaska LNG project in the United States Senate so that we can create good-paying Alaska jobs and drive down energy costs for families across the state. Today’s announcement is great news for Alaska, and I appreciate President Trump’s work to unleash Alaska energy. I look forward to continuing this bipartisan work with the President as Alaska’s next United States Senator.”
Mary Peltola is a longtime supporter of the Alaska LNG pipeline project and a proven fighter for energy development in Alaska, by Alaskans, for Alaskans.
Mary stood up to the Biden administration when it issued a pause on export decisions for the LNG pipeline. She has consistently supported the project, citing its potential positive impact for Alaska’s economy, workers, and local and international energy supply. In recognition of her advocacy for the LNG pipeline, Alaska Gasline Development Corporation President said Mary was “instrumental in positioning this project as a priority,” and the Alaska Speaker of the House praised Mary’s “keen support” for the pipeline (17:15).
