On Saturday, the Alaskans for Mary campaign mobilized to donate supplies and volunteer time to animal shelters as part of the campaign’s robust and innovative community service initiative.
“Putting Alaska first means showing up for your neighbor,” said Mary Peltola. “I’m grateful for all those who have already pitched in to help, and I’m looking forward to continuing to build a campaign of Alaskans helping Alaskans.”
Volunteers donated critical supplies and volunteered their time with the Anchorage SPCA and the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Animal Shelter.
Saturday marked Alaskans for Mary’s second monthly day of service – in March, volunteers mobilized to fight the housing crisis and foster community, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, and at Bethel’s Cama’i Dance Festival & the Community Native Foods Dinner.
Aimed at creating stronger communities, fostering a culture of service, and engaging Alaskans outside of traditional politics, the Alaskans for Mary community service initiative is centering the campaign’s energized grassroots momentum and relentless focus on putting Alaska first.
