On Thursday, lifelong Alaskan Mary Peltola joined a filled room of nearly 150 Alaskans in Anchorage to speak face to face about the issues facing their communities, how the rigged system in DC is leaving Alaska behind, and what she’ll do to fix it.
“I’m in this race because DC is leaving Alaska behind,” said Mary Peltola. “If we want to lower gas and grocery prices, if we want to protect our fisheries, and if we want to make sure Alaska is a state of opportunity and abundance, we need to fix the rigged system in DC and put Alaska first.”
But at the event, Mary listened more than she talked. Joined by Rev. Dr. Patricia Wilson-Cone, Alaska Native leaders Debra Call and Georgianna Lincoln, and other civic leaders, she heard from Alaskans about the issues facing their communities: skyrocketing prices, healthcare cutbacks, and the harm DC is doing to our state. She pledged to be a Senator for all Alaskans, and give Alaskans, especially those communities that have been too often unheard and overlooked, a voice in DC.
