ALASKA – Over the weekend, lifelong Alaskan Mary Peltola wrapped up her sweeping swing through Southeast Alaska, traveling by seaplane, van, prop plane, and ferry to speak directly with Alaskans in six communities about fighting for the issues most important to them as Alaska’s next U.S. Senator.

“Coast to coast, face to face, voter to voter, I’m traveling to every corner of our state because every Alaskan deserves a seat at the table,” said Mary Peltola. “From the skyrocketing cost of housing to devastating healthcare cuts, the rigged system in DC is making it harder and harder for hardworking Alaskans to get by. As an independent voice for Alaska, I’ll fight to lower costs and restore the critical services people rely on to ensure the next generation of Alaskans has the same kind of abundance we grew up with.”

Mary held community meet and greets in six Southeast communities: Petersburg, Wrangell, Metlakatla, Ketchikan, Sitka, and Haines. In each community, she heard from Alaskans of every age about the issues on their minds: restoring fisheries and abundance in our oceans and rivers, lowering the cost of housing and healthcare, funding public radio, and strengthening the Marine Highway System.

Across every conversation, the message from Alaskans is clear: the rigged system in DC is leaving hardworking Alaskans behind, and they want a senator who will actually lower costs and put Alaska first.
