This week, lifelong Alaskan Mary Peltola hosted two packed meet and greets in Kenai and Homer to speak directly with Alaskans in the region about the issues most important to them and how she will fight for them as Alaska’s next U.S. Senator.
“I’m traveling to every corner of our state because every Alaskan deserves a voice, no matter their zipcode,” said Mary Peltola. “From low salmon runs to the skyrocketing cost of fuel, groceries, and housing, the rigged system in DC is making it harder and harder for families in Kenai and across our state to get by. As an independent voice for Alaska, I’ll fight to restore our fisheries to ensure the next generation of Alaskans has the same kind of abundance we grew up with.”
At both meet and greets, and in meetings with local community leaders and officials, Mary heard from Alaskans suffering the fallout of chronically low salmon runs thanks to factory trawling and excessive bycatch, who are finding it harder and harder to fill their freezers, afford gas and groceries, and make a life in Alaska.
Across every conversation, the message from Alaskans is clear: DC price hikes and scarcity are harming our Alaska way of life, and they want a senator who will actually restore abundance to our fisheries and put Alaska first.
The tour follows Mary’s announcements of bold plans to lower costs, save our fish, restore abundance, boost oil and gas production, and fix the rigged system in DC that is harming our state, and comes as over 10,000 Alaskans have signed up to help elect Mary to the Senate, having already knocked over 25,000 doors.
