Yesterday, lifelong Alaskan Mary Peltola held a town hall with leaders and members of Alaska American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Alaska Public Employees Association (APEA), Alaska Nurses Association, and the Alaska AFL-CIO in Anchorage to speak directly with Alaska workers, educators, and nurses about the issues most important to them and how she will fight for them as Alaska’s next U.S. Senator.

“AFT members are being forced to do more with less under crushing cuts from DC to public education,” said Mary Peltola. “It was a true privilege to hear from people doing some of the hardest jobs in this country: teachers, healthcare workers, public sector employees. You make our communities work, and you’re on the front lines of the fight for working families.”

At the town hall, Mary heard from AFT members who are being hammered by both rising costs and cuts from DC. She reaffirmed her commitment to fight for Alaska workers and their families, including fighting to pass the PRO Act, protect every worker’s right to collectively bargain, raise pay for workers, cut taxes for working families, and bring down costs.

This week’s visit follows Mary’s announcements of bold plans to lower costs, save our fish, boost oil and gas production, take care of our veterans, and fix the rigged system in DC that is harming our state, and comes as the Alaska AFL-CIO and AFGE have endorsed Mary and over 15,000 Alaskans have signed up to help elect Mary to the Senate.
