Alaskans for Mary today announced a statewide community service initiative to activate volunteers every month through November for localized community service efforts.
On Saturday, March 28, Alaskans for Mary will be activating volunteers to:
- Fight the housing crisis in Anchorage with Habitat for Humanity
- Foster community in Bethel at the Cama’i Dance Festival and Community Native Foods Dinner
“This campaign is about putting Alaska first, and that starts by showing up and supporting our neighbors,” said Mary Peltola. “Alaskans pitch in to bail out a stranger’s swamping boat, because we know ours could be the next one underwater. It’s what makes our state great, and I hope to see you out there.”
Each month, the campaign will coordinate volunteers in communities across Alaska to participate in local service projects as part of a statewide day of action. Volunteers can find more information about the initiative and join the effort here.
Aimed at creating stronger communities, fostering a culture of service, and engaging Alaskans outside of traditional politics, the initiative will center the campaign’s energized grassroots momentum and relentless focus on putting Alaska first.
