Dozens more villages to follow as Peltola begins statewide rural visits

ALASKA – Today, Mary Peltola launched an expansive tour of rural villages to talk directly with Alaskans about the issues most important to them: lowering costs, restoring fisheries, and fighting back against a corrupt DC system that is leaving Alaskans behind.

“Putting Alaska first means going everywhere and talking to everyone,” said Mary Peltola. “It’s going to take all of us to fight back against the rigged system in DC and stand up for our state. I’m traveling from the Aleutians to the Arctic because every village, every family, and every Alaskan deserves a senator who shows up and fights for them.”

Beginning on the Kuskokwim, where Mary grew up, she will visit seven villages over the next four days: Toksook Bay, Kasigluk, St. Mary’s, Pilot Station, Hooper Bay, Chevak, and Scammon Bay. With dozens more village visits planned, she is committed to building a movement powered by all Alaskans, for all Alaskans.

The tour comes on the heels of unprecedented grassroots momentum for the campaign – 3,500 volunteers have now signed up to join Mary’s Alaska first campaign. Last weekend, that energy was on full display when Alaskans for Mary launched a community service initiative, mobilizing volunteers in a day of action tackling hunger and homelessness. The rural village tour is the next step in that effort and reflects Mary’s commitment to reaching people in every corner of Alaska.
