Yesterday, lifelong Alaskan Mary Peltola joined a roundtable in Anchorage to speak directly with members of IBEW Local 1547 and their families about the issues most important to Alaska workers and how she will fight for them as Alaska’s next U.S. Senator.
“Our workers have always shown up for Alaska, and I’ll always show up for them by fighting for fair wages and lower costs,” said Mary Peltola. “Alaska workers deserve a Senator who will stand up to anyone to take on DC corruption to make lives better for working families, not someone who sides with corporate greed and votes to jack up our prices. As Alaska’s next Senator, I will fight every day to lower costs and put our workers first.”
Mary has been a steadfast champion for Alaska workers. She co-sponsored the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act to enshrine workers’ collective bargaining rights, stood up to her own party to fight for and secure the Willow oil project to deliver stable, good-paying union jobs to Alaska, has led the fight against factory trawlers, and organized Alaskans to block the Kroger-Albertson’s merger that would have spiked grocery prices and harmed workers.
In the Senate, Mary will fight to cut taxes for hardworking Alaskans, increase wages for workers, bring down the cost of groceries, gas, housing, and childcare for Alaska working families, fix the rigged system in DC that prioritizes special interests over Alaska workers, make Alaska more affordable for Alaska working families, restore Alaska’s fisheries, and bring down energy costs by boosting oil and gas development.
Mary is endorsed by the Alaska AFL-CIO, Alaska AFGE, and IBEW Local 1547.
