Mary sat down with KTUU to discuss her plan to fight for Alaskans
ALASKA – Last week, lifelong Alaskan and former fishing boat captain Mary Peltola spoke with KTUU about how she will fight to lower costs, fix the rigged system in DC, and put Alaska first as Alaska’s next U.S. Senator.

“When you look at our state and the cost of our groceries, the cost of our gas – especially after this last barge came in – the cost of utilities rising, the cost of healthcare, and we don’t seem to be getting any answers or solutions; that’s what I want to focus on,” said Mary Peltola. “Those are the issues that I’m hearing from Alaskans. The wages are not keeping up, the prices are runaway prices. And how do we get our arms around this? How do we get a Washington D.C., a Congress and a Senate who’s listening to Alaskans everyday problems?… The main thing that I’m thinking about is the chokehold that Alaskans are under in terms of the rising costs.”
In the wide-ranging sit-down interview, Mary gave voice to Alaskans getting crushed by skyrocketing prices, drawing a direct line between the rigged system in DC and the rising cost of living. She spoke about the need to make it easier for Alaska families to make ends meet, the importance of working across the aisle to unleash Alaska resource development, and her commitment to putting Alaska first, lowering costs, and restoring abundance for the next generation of Alaskans — citing skyrocketing energy costs as a top priority.
Mary has introduced popular policy plans to lower costs and put more money back in Alaskans’ pockets, restore abundance to our fisheries, and fix the rigged system in DC.
This comes on the heels of unprecedented grassroots momentum for Mary’s Alaska first campaign, as more than more than 10,000 Alaskans from over 160 different towns and communities across the state have signed up to help elect Mary. Mary has been criss-crossing the state for months, talking directly with Alaskans across the Interior, Southeast, and Western Alaska, dog sledding with supporters, rallying Alaskans, and meeting with voters from Fairbanks to Juneau.
