ALASKA – Today, lifelong Alaskan and former fishing boat captain Mary Peltola marched in Bethel’s Independence Day parade alongside family, friends, and fired-up volunteers in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
“As a lifelong Alaskan and proud American, it was an honor to march in Bethel alongside Alaskans who make our state and country great,” said Mary Peltola. “Today, we don’t just celebrate 250 years of American Independence – we celebrate 250 years of American accomplishment, democracy, and sacrifice. Today’s parade in Bethel was a great reminder of that history and pride we should all share as Alaskans and Americans.”
More than 10,000 Alaskans from over 160 different towns and communities across the state have signed up to help elect Mary. She’s received record-breaking support from every borough and census area in Alaska, and recently earned the endorsement of the Alaska AFL-CIO. She just returned from her tour of cities and villages across The Interior, and has been criss-crossing the state for months speaking with volunteers, dog sledding with supporters, rallying Alaskans, and meeting with voters from Fairbanks to Juneau.
